The DSTV Mzansi Viewers’ Choice Awards (DMVCAs) are back after a two-year-long break due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This year’s nominee list is dominated by the cast of Showmax’s popular drama series The Wife and sees three of its actors nominated across different categories.
The country’s national boyfriend, Kwenzokuhle Ngcobo – who plays Qhawe on the show – is nominated under the Favourite Rising Star category while his colleagues, Zikhona Sodlaka (who plays Mandisa) and Abdul Khoza (who plays Nqoba) are nominated under the Best Female Actor and Best Male Actor categories respectively.

The host for the fourth instalment of the awards ceremony, which will be held at the Sun Arena in Pretoria, will be Lawrence Maleka, who recently hosted Big Brother Mzansi. Voted for by the South African public, the DMVCAs will honour top achievers over the past two years in television, radio, music, sports and comedy.
On choosing the The River actor as host, DSTV says that Lawrence’s humour and charm are perfect for the show.
“DStv are thrilled to announce that Lawrence Maleka will host the fourth instalment of the popular awards show. The beloved TV personality, who was recently the host of Big Brother Mzansi and is also known for his role as Zolani on 1Magic’s The River, brings his trademark charm and humour to the proceedings,” the statement reads.
